hi, i suffered from dartitis in november last year after major surgery i struggled for a couple of months and then heard turn the lights off and just throw, it works!!!! gradually lighting up the dart board bit by bit... i am now playing for my county and in super league my darts have never been better my average gone up to around 80-90 with really good checkouts, my theory is stress is the main cause.. my friend lost his job and also suffered from the big D he tried my theory and it worked for him too, his darts are great..not as good as mine though lol.. please try this and let me know how you get on thanks.

I was at my board the other day just throwing as normal and all of a sudden my arm locked up and I couldn't let the dart go. This is not the first time for me - it has happened in the past. Unfortunately for me, I have several sets of darts and change shafts and flights way too often. This is most likely the cause of the affliction for me. But I also think it might be my cure. The last time it happened I took as many sets of darts I could hold in my left hand (non throwing) and started releasing them as fast as possible at the board with my right hand. No aiming, just releasing. I tried it today with about six sets over and over and I am letting the dart go and my throw is returning. This is my cure. Hopefully I will get my throw back to normal soon.

Hi I am not sure what it is I suffer from but I used to be quite good then suddenly last year in my indies final I started to tremble from my toes up and although I could throw my dart it hit the floor and not the board I was shaking any ideas what this is?

I thought that I was quite a good player. However since last Christmas I have started overbalancing about every five darts. However in the past two weeks I have been overbalancing on every throw. I pull my arm back and then I sart to shake and now when I do let them go they can go anywhere. I am only 15 and I love the sport and itwould be such a sham if I had to give up.

I am 15 and I have suffered with dartitis for a year. I used to be a pretty decent player and regularly entered tournaments every week. It all started last may at a huge youth tournament in Walton when I was very nervous, and as I was practicing i found i could not release my darts. It got worse as the day went on, and in the hope of making at least some progress in the tournament completely altered my throw. They released a little easier but not much. I had been preparing for that day for months, putting in about 4 hours a day practice. I didn’t know if would be my downfall. As the year progressed I began throwing reasonably well again hitting the big scores and starting to feel like my old self. However for some reason after I had played a former PDC pro and not struggled at all in my match with him, it came back. For months I kept going, determined not to let it beat me, but it just would not stop. I went through several stages of the dreaded disease including......

.not being able to release properly
arm locking
.arm freezing on release
.lifting my leg up and not being able to release
.staggering over oche
.trying to release the dart so hard it began to come back and hit me

All of these processes didn’t just happen once, they kept occurring at different times in the year. It cost me my place in the BDO youth super league team. Determined not to let it beat me I began practicing harder than ever for about 4 hours a day. I lost a huge amount of consistency and my darts were flying all over the place. A little later in the year however they started going good again and I plucked up enough courage to enter a local tournament. I reached the second round and dominating the scoring against a very decent player, however I could not hit my doubles and lost the match. I didn’t get over my defeat for ages, and believed that huge loss of confidence is what made my dartitis come back several days later. I have won 1 league game since May last year but with a pathetic dartitis inflicted 11 average it tells you I’ll be lucky to ever win a game again in that form. I still practice every day and I will never let this beat me. I am determined to show everyone just how good I really am and come back better than ever. Recently I played Dennis Priestly and I played awful but I’m still playing none the less.

Dartitis hugely affected my confidence and I was scared to even go and throw at a board. It made throwing 3 darts something hard to do. I still snatch my darts, and my consistency and accuracy go out the window at times. However I can still hit the big scores just not as often as I want to. I know I’m nowhere near past dartitis , but I’m determined not to let it beat me!

About 1 year ago i was playing ina family darts tournament in my garage and threw out of my skin. The next morning i couldnt wait to get back on the board. However from my very first dart i could tell something was a miss when i started to throw all over the place and couldnt release my darts without losing my balance and stepping forward. Priot to this i used to throw dead still. Now i cant throw them without moving and have tried everything. Can anyone advise on what to do because its driving me crackers.
