I finally had some advice last night that helped me put my finger on this problem I am having. I have been shooting since 1988. In the last couple years I have had a problem with getting the darts to the board. It used to only happen in tournaments but now it is happening in league and even when I am just practicing with the team. I know it is a mental thing but it's getting past it that has had me frustrated to the point where I am ready to give up this sport I have enjoyed for so many years. I am sure the decrease in my confidence level hasn't helped and the more I shoot like this, the more my confidence drops. This person that told me about "yips" basically said the way he got through it was totally changing his throw. 6 months later he was able to return to his old way with no problem. I will be trying this but I am not too optimistic. Any additional suggestions are welcomed.

If you have read the main dartitis page on this site then you will know I am trying to get the word ‘dartitis’ recognised and included into the Oxford English Dictionary (OED). I have for the past nine months collected articles, extracts from books and sent these to the OED to show how much the word is in use. In a last attempt ditch attempt I have sent the OED a recorded copy of ‘Darts Tarts’ documentary shown on BBC TV. In the documentary Eric Bristow features along with less well known dart players talking about ‘dartitis’ and how it has affected them.
I believe I have sent enough now to the OED for them to seriously consider the entry of ‘dartitis’ into the dictionary and will let you now the outcome should it be successful.
