HOW DARTS ARE MADE - Nice Short video on YouTube - Below
Perfect
9 Dart Game The very first televised 9 dart finish was achieved
by John Lowe at the 1984 MFI World Matchplay. John won £102,000 / $175,000 for this single
feat. £100,000 from the tournament and a further £2,000 from the BDO. His opponent and good friend was Keith Deller.
Keith had won the 1983 World
Darts Championship. The next televised 9 dart finish wasn't for another 7 years
achieved by Paul Lim in the Embassy World Darts Championship in 1990!
To date I have only had one chance of achieving this holy grail of darts hitting two
perfect 180's, T20,T19 to leave D12; I missed the double! I also missed with the
10th dart hitting single 12 before checking out D6 for a 11 dart finish. Back to
back 180's are not uncommon but nailing the 141 after that seems to be the
Achilles heal for most darters. I have, like most achieved 180, 180 and 141
checkout during and evening of darts but these have never concurrent throws
within the same leg.
It is said it is harder to hit a 9 dart leg of darts than
to achieve a 147 in snooker and by the amount of 9 dart finishes we have seem on TV
this could be true. Thanks to Compfused.com for the video link.
Televised 9 darts 501 games are rare, but here are a few
links to web posting that feature this amazing feat. Links to You Tube & Google
Video.
Acknowledged to be the hardest way to hit the 9 darts finish
is to hit 167 three times T20,T19,Bull. This feat has never been seen on TV and
is also unlikely to be ever attempted during a competition match.
Live Darts streaming media
Here is a site I have found. It is called WatchDarts.com. The site says it basically broadcasts live darts via the net,
plus you can also see some pre-recorded matches- subscription required.
Professional Darts Corporation
PDC
Subscription based live TV coverage, plus archive footage of classic PDC event
tournament matches
