hi there ive been playing darts for 28 yrs, ive played for many teams and enjoyed the sport. one day in my local pub i got my darts out and from the very first dart struggled to let go, all my team mates laughed and said just let go, wish it was that easy i tell you. i got all sweaty and stiff in the arm then my legs locked. ive had dartitus for 5 yrs now and still got it, it has improved slightly now only pause on doubles for some reason. this is how i did it, before a match i listen to a favourite song on my mp3 and chill, ive changed my weight 3 gms heavier also i dont grip them as hard only resting the dart on my hand and dont pull your arm so far back before release. im hitting my 180's again but still have slight pauses on finishing but who cares about winning for me its taking part in a game i love and have become to respect. hope this helps you dart players who are struggling, im there with you. take care and good game.

Well the dreaded dartitis has now affected me, got it about 3 weeks ago and now I cant throw a dart. I just cant seem to let go of the darts. Played a league game last night, so wish I hadnt, made things worse I started shaking almost unconrolably. Only been playing 6 months but I got to a fairly decent standard. I really enjoy my darts, one of the few things I look forward to doing but now I dont even want to take my darts out. I've never been a nervous person, competitions and stage has been a part of my life since I can remember. As for what triggered this I have absolutly no idea. Im going to leave my darts for a couple of weeks and not play at all, see what happens.

I was throwing a few arrows last night and suddenly dartitis struck. I was so late letting go of the dart that it hit the floor about a yard in front of my oche foot. It's really effected my confidence.

I am happy to say that I am cured. I kept working at it and finally I got my throw back. I also hit the big 180 on league play!!

hi, i suffered from dartitis in november last year after major surgery i struggled for a couple of months and then heard turn the lights off and just throw, it works!!!! gradually lighting up the dart board bit by bit... i am now playing for my county and in super league my darts have never been better my average gone up to around 80-90 with really good checkouts, my theory is stress is the main cause.. my friend lost his job and also suffered from the big D he tried my theory and it worked for him too, his darts are great..not as good as mine though lol.. please try this and let me know how you get on thanks.

I was at my board the other day just throwing as normal and all of a sudden my arm locked up and I couldn't let the dart go. This is not the first time for me - it has happened in the past. Unfortunately for me, I have several sets of darts and change shafts and flights way too often. This is most likely the cause of the affliction for me. But I also think it might be my cure. The last time it happened I took as many sets of darts I could hold in my left hand (non throwing) and started releasing them as fast as possible at the board with my right hand. No aiming, just releasing. I tried it today with about six sets over and over and I am letting the dart go and my throw is returning. This is my cure. Hopefully I will get my throw back to normal soon.
