You may hear about Adrian Lewis and James Wade all the time, but despite how popular men’s darts is, women’s darts isn’t content anymore to stand behind as a side show. There are women in the game who could even give the most gifted of male players a good run for their money. On that note, let’s now look at four of the most famous and successful female darts players who have risen to the limelight recently and have plans to stay there for a long time to come.
At 32, Anastasia Dobromyslova is one of the most promising faces of women’s darts. She started playing the sport at the young age of only 11 and has since won multiple tournaments and cups over the course of many years. One of her most remarkable international feats was to beat the great Trina Gulliver at the Women’s World Championship in 2008 to win the title of the Women’s World Champion. Things looked exceptionally bright for the young player when she managed to defeat Darren Place (5 - 2) and Pete Galloway (5 - 0) to qualify for the PDC 2008 UK Open. She went toe-to-toe with World Masters Champion Robert Thorton at the finals of the Pub Qualifiers event, but Thorton managed to win the match by a hair (6 - 5)
Often referred to as the “Golden Girl” of darts, Trina Gulliver is by far the most iconic and famous women’s darts player to date. Backed by Winmau for many years, Gulliver has won the Women’s World Darts Championship ten-times. She has won so many awards, tournaments, cups, etc. (300+) that it’s simply impossible to put it all in this list! She also captained the English International Lady’s Darts Team earlier in her career. Apart from her illustrious career, Trina Gulliver has often spoken out openly and against the lower prize money on offer for female dart players. She still remains active today and will hopefully continue to win many more accolades in the coming years.
Hoenselaar is a close friend of Trina Gulliver and both of them have beaten each other on important occasions at the international stage. The retired legend had held the numero uno (number one) position in the Women’s World Dart rankings for a long time. In 2009, she beat Gulliver to become the BDO Women’s World Darts Champion, although the Golden Girl did win it back from her the next year. The Dutch Crown has multiple other tournaments under her belt including three World Masters, one World Darts Trophy, one WDF World Cup, three WDF Europe Cups and much more.
Often seen practicing at The Horseshoe pub in London, Deta Hedman currently holds the number two spot in the world on the list of world’s greatest female dart players and previously held the number one spot for a long time as well. After winning more than 100+ tournaments and competitions around the world, Hedman has established herself not only as a prominent woman’s dart player, but as a living legend of the game. Even after facing her share of racism and hardships as a young female darts player, she still continues to be in the game and hopes to play a crucial role in the development of the sport once she retires
2001 was just the start for many of these legends we just spoke about, including the first woman to compete in the men´s World Championship, Canadian Gayl King. Despite the 16 years that have passed since, important differences still exist depending on whether the event is played by women or by men, for example the prize money. While the Men’s Dart World Champion will be awarded with £350,000, Trina Guilliver the 10th Ladies Dart Champion was awarded with just £10,000. This is obviously a large difference. And, although the reason behind the stark prize difference is that most people would rather watch men’s darts (and so there is more money made from advertising and TV rights), it’s still not ideal for the women in the sport.
1×2 Darts Betting: Simple bet, on who will win the match.

Outright Market Darts Betting: Betting on the absolute winner of a tournament.
If you want to try your luck and you are willing to bet on your favourite female darts player in any upcoming tournament, you should check the Freebets.UK website first because they always have the best sports betting offers listed on their site. In fact, Freebets has a dedicated niche for the most popular and famous sporting events in any year, so that fans of darts or any other sports can easily find the odds, the free bonuses and the best betting offers in one place.
Those who want to can bet on everything from the outright winner of a tournament to how many points they will win by. Because there are often a lot of players in each tournament, the odds are quite varied, and you can often get a good deal. Bettors can also get involved in PDC betting which is more ideal for beginners as you’ll usually just be given a list of the short favourites, as opposed to a list of every competitor. Darts Total Legs Betting is the main bet on offer here as you can bet based on whether the total number of legs is under or over what is set as a pinnacle. Of course, this is even better if you aren’t risking your real money by taking advantage of an offer or promotion. Especially if you are a beginner!
Darts betting odds get updated as a tournament is released, with more betting odds becoming available as the tournament gets closer. Do keep this in mind if you’d rather not just place a wager on an outright winner.
