The PDC Players Championships returns to Minehead Butlins to a sell-out crowd for the conclusion of the Player Championships. The top 64 players by PDC Players Championship Order of Merit compete in a straight knock to find the Player Champion from Friday, November 22 – Sunday, November 24. All PDC Tour cardholders have competed in 30 separate Players Champions events that form the 2024 Player Championship Order of Merit, with 64 missing out on a final place.
The Player Championship Finals is initially played on two stages, 1 and 2, stage one being the main TV feature. The draw is made with the top-ranked players playing against the lowest, but in this short format, expect some upsets.
Fans will likely be betting hard on this event as we have seen many new names take the title. However, Michael van Gerwen has dominated the events, winning it seven times to date. But Michael hasn't been in the best form recently, as he failed to progress from the group stages in the Grand Slam of Darts. Luke Humphries, the Current World Darts Champions and Players Championship winner in 2023, will hope to defend his title. However, the PDC tour may have taken its toll as he didn't feature in the later stages of the Grand Slam.
Players to watch are Luke Littler, Gary Anderson, and an outsider, Gian Van Veen, the PDC Winmau Youth Champion Runner-up in 2023. Van Veen has recently produced some very high dart averages and holds the highest group average in the Grand Slam's round-robin stages, making him one of the players on the cusp of taking a major title.
Dart fans can use promotional codes from bookmakers not on gamstop to enhance their odds and play with many of the world's best gaming websites. This is a great way to fill any time gaps between Players Champions match play.
The Butlins Minehead Resort has become a fan favourite, featuring two of the main PDC tournaments. The UK Open, played from the end of February to early March 2025, also known as the FA Cup of Darts, features qualifiers outside the PDC Tour Card resume, plus the Players Championship.
Booking and accommodation for these packed weekends of darts can be made via the PDC Website. Most fans will book for the next year's event a year in advance, so you have to be quick to the mark to obtain tickets. Fans that miss out can also view the tournaments via TV and streaming broadcasters ITVSport, DAZN and Via play. PDC TV
The PDC Winmau Youth Final will feature two Dutch stars. Gain van Veen, who was the 2023 runner-up, was beaten by Luke Littler, who hasn't been able to compete in the Youth Events. Van Veen will play Jurjen van der Velde for the World Youth Title, and the winner will also earn a place in the PDC World Championship Finals.
Contrivoiusly, PDC youth competitors are allowed to play in this event up to the age of twenty-four, which many view as youth. However, the structure allows new stars to obtain high-level matches before leaving and attending PDC Q-School to play in the main PDC Events. Van Veen will start as the favourite, but as we witnessed last year with both Luke Littler and Gian van Veen, these youth players can play and will be the future of darts in the PDC.
The draw for the first round of the PDC World Darts Championship is usually made before the Players' Champions ends. So, the Players Championship may be the last chance to make a positive impact for some.
